2015 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer Makes Its Regional Debut At Bangkok Motor Show

At the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show, BMW announced the regional debut of the 2015 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the first front-wheel drive vehicle from the car maker. We’ve previously reported that BMW Group Malaysia would look to bring two new models into our local market and with its debut in Thailand, it wouldn’t be long before we get our turn.

Sharing the common FWD platform that underpins the all-new F56 MINI, the 2 Series Active Tourer will receive a range of powertrains including several petrol and diesel engines. For the Thai market, the 218i (1.5-litre three-cylinder TwinPower Turbo), 225i (2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo) petrol engines are available with only a single 218d (2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo) diesel option.

Transmission options also differ among the variants with the 218i and 218d paired to a six-speed manual transmission. Only the 225i gets a eight-speed Steptronic transmission. Keep in mind that these specifications are for the Thai market and does not reflect what we will actually receive.

Other features included in the compact MPV are a hands-free tailgate opening system, a remote electronic rear backrests release system, BMW Head-Up Display, a Park Assistant Package, and more according to BMW Thailand's digital brochure.

Prices have yet to be announced and we’ll need to wait for the local launch of the all-new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer to find out what we have in store for us.
